Home of the Neptunes

Wheeler Field

The Virginia Beach Neptunes is Virginia Beach’s first professional baseball team.  The Neptunes have been conditionally approved to be the next expansion franchise of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, the highest level of pro baseball other than the Major Leagues.  The Atlantic League has successfully grown since its beginning in 1998 and is expanding in a number of cities in addition to their current franchises from Long Island to Texas.

The home of the Virginia Beach Neptunes is a 5,000 seat marquee, multi-purpose ballpark in a Sports & Entertainment complex in southern Virginia Beach.  The City of Virginia Beach engaged with Virginia Beach Professional Baseball, LLC to build the ballpark along with a tournament complex of 13 baseball/softball fields.  The complex will be adjacent to an additional 12 fields to create a tournament destination unmatched in the country.  The Virginia Beach City Council unanimously approved the project and dedicated significant revenues towards infrastructure improvements.  The City leased all the property at a nominal amount and is sharing tax revenues generated by the project to help finance it.

The ballpark and tournament complex will be adjacent to the Virginia Beach Sportsplex, the National Field Hockey Training Facility, the Virginia Beach Field House and the Farm Bureau Live Amphitheater.

The Virginia Beach Neptunes are a locally-owned baseball franchise that was named in a community contest that lasted multiple weeks and had nearly two dozen competing names.  The Neptunes was the overwhelming favorite throughout the competition and was the clear choice
